Thistles represent protection from a magical perspective and also symbolize strength in overcoming difficult situations. Snakes and snails have all been used as symbols of fertility in art throughout history, but snakes symbolize rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing, while snails represent the slow pace of life's progress. The woman in the painting is wearing a necklace with the female symbol of Venus and is portrayed in nature, grounded by Mother Earth.

“A Still Life of Time”
24"x36”
oil on canvas
2022

This still life was inspired by old locks and keys in my friend’s garage, Fiona Apple’s song lyrics to “Valentine”, a Tyler Knott Gregson poem, an old Holly Brook song called “Heavy”.
It’s a portrait of my thoughts on the relationship between desire and creativity, time and how to use it, the journey of life and how to balance everything….and all the secrets we hide from ourselves and others, or walls we build as time passes.

“Transformation”
18" x 24"

My Spring Goddess
Female Monarchs lay eggs on milkweed plants in the Spring. The eggs then go through the transformation of becoming a caterpillar, chrysalis, and butterfly. The butterfly is also a beautiful symbol of transformation for the transgender community.

“Frozen Dream”
18" x 24"
Oil on Panel
2022
(SOLD)

My Winter Goddess
She came to me in a dream. Everything was white and quiet and peaceful and still.

Flower Series

The colors of the flowers in this series coincide with the colors of the Pride flag. These paintings were made for a window installation for Pride Month in Asbury Park, NJ.

Since its debut in 1978, the Pride flag has become an iconic symbol of the LGBTQIA+ community. It celebrates gay pride, community, queer love, self-love, inclusivity, diversity, resistance, unity, acceptance, awareness, tolerance, freedom, power, hope, and so much more.

In the original eight-stripe version of the flag, red was chosen to represent love and life, orange for healing, yellow for sunshine, green for nature, blue for art, indigo for harmony, violet for spirit, and pink for sexuality
