I’m often inspired by song lyrics. I listen to songs and create images in my head, and in this case I took the lyrics of “Gold Dust Woman” by Stevie Nicks, which she has said is not about cocaine but a kind of symbolic look at somebody going through a bad time and “trying to just make it, trying to live…just trying to get through it to the next thing.”

I combined this idea with lyrics from Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock”, which I take to mean, in a world full of hatred and division, we are all made up of the same stuff:
We are stardust
Billion year old carbon
We are golden
Caught in the devil’s bargain
And we’ve got to get ourselves
Back to the garden

And so, I created this golddust/stardust woman.
